Bethel College Mennonite Church Board Minutes Pending approval at January 6, 2022 Board Meeting

in doing justice, loving mercy, and walking humbly with God.
Board Members Present: Elizabeth Schmidt (moderator), Ada Schmidt-Tieszen (moderator-elect), Glen Ediger, Judy Friesen, John Kliewer, Cynthia Linscheid, Lois Preheim, Adam Robb, Dale Schrag, Bill Swartley
Board Members not present:
Staff Present: Nathan Koontz (pastor), Renee Reimer (pastor)
Staff not present:
Others attending: None
1. Opening and Centering Prayer – Moderator Elizabeth Schmidt opened with prayer, praying:
God, whose arrival we remember
and anticipate anew this Advent season,
Gather us into watchful wonder.
Lead us, that we may recognize your presence
within and around us.
Open us all to the leading of your Spirit.
Guide us to seek first your kin-dom
Of loving, just, and right relationships.
May we trust that you are looking after our congregation,
And trust in your divine care,
That we can know, with assurance,
That all will be well.
May it be so.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
The meeting then entered executive session at 7:05 pm which ended at 7:55 pm.
2. Motion to Invite Todd Schlosser as Interim Pastor At BCMC: The Board took action to invite Todd Schlosser to serve Bethel College Mennonite Church as interim pastor on the pastoral team, focusing primarily on administrative and pastoral care roles, to be mutually evaluated every six months while BCMC searches for a settled pastor. The Board asks that the Staff Congregation Relations Committee write a memorandum of understanding to that end which the Board can then present to Todd for his agreement. Dale Schrag so moved and Ada Schmidt-Tieszen seconded the motion which subsequently carried.
3. The meeting was adjourned at 8:15 pm. Next meeting is January 6, 2022 at 7:00 pm.
